Eric, I don't think that Gerardo's comments were intended as a slam against
Stan. True, there seems to be a bit of animosity there at times, but here
is what I can throw into the mix. The OEM shift plate was the "tin foil"
type while Stan's product is a much better than OEM piece as it is thicker.
I know because I bought one of those. So, I think that you were reading
into that statement that Gerardo was trying to slam Stan. I don't see that.
Now, Gerardo did mention that his is a significant savings from the others
that have been offered on the list. That probably was aimed at Stan's
product as a point of information about the value proposition of each. I
don't see that as a slam, but as price competition among vendors. There may
have been other vendors that offered those items, but I am not aware of any.

As I said above, I bought one of Stan's, so I can speak to the quality of
it. It is fine. I have not seen Gerardo's, but knowing what a stickler
Gerardo is with regards to his reproduced items (license trims, grill
mounts, solex linkage, shift boots, etc.) I am sure that his is also a fine
product.

I guess my point is that no matter what vendor posts, someone will see it as
a slam or an attempt to be a flame war. That is unfortunate because if we
(the list) blast them for announcing that they have a new product, then we
(the roadster community) are running off the very vendors that we NEED to
get products to keep our cars on the road.

Personally, I don't have a problem buying what I need from whichever vendor
that has it. If I get the option of choosing, I will shop for quality,
value and price. If a vendor lets me know that he/she has something, it may
be something that I did not realize that I needed until they posted, so I
want to see those posts!

Just my comments from the peanut gallery...
