For all:
I recently worked on a 1970 Roadster for a local lady. Now there are two
roadsters running in this part of Virginia! Anyway, one of the things I did
for her was buy and have installed a new top.

I bought one of the canvas tops from Classic Datsun. They gave me a pretty
good deal because it was a top they ordered for a person, who then never
picked it up. I also installed all new posties and twisties, and new
expensive clamshells, and refurbished the frame.

I paid the local car top and seat guy to come to my house and install the
top, which was $200 well spent. Nice old guy, did not measure anything,
just used eyball and chalk. Top fits perfectly and looks incredably good.
It is a little bulkier to fold, but folds OK. I hate to spend $200 for
something I could potentially do, but if you get one twistie hole .5 inch
off, the whole top will look like crap forever. The old guy did all the
right finishing touches that I would never have known about.

Bottom line, the canvass top from CDM is a real nice looking piece. I
thought the additional little snaps by the vent wings were a nice touch, and
the velcro things inside are very nice for adjusting
the parts that seal the windows. Compared to the cheap vinal top on my 67,
this is quite weatherproof (for a roadster) and a thing of beauty.

As a counter point, I also appreciate Mikes point for vinal to be the top of
choice for a lot of folks because of cost and maintenance ease.

Best Regards,
Jim
