Yes, you'll need some machine work to get the Z-car drums to fit. IIRC,
basically you're opening up the center hole on the drum because the raised
section on the end of the axle is larger in diameter on the roadsters than
on the Z. I'm pretty sure that the drums for any 1st gen 240/256/280 will
work.

There's a drawing on 311s.org. Select "Brakes" from the left frame, then
scroll down and select the link to the drawing. You should be able to right
click on the image after it opens and select "Open in a separate window", or
words to that effect. Print that window and take it to your friendly local
machine shop along with your Z-car drums.

Not sure who carries the Z-drums, but Black Dragon (was Victoria British)
gets around $125 each!! I'm going to need at least a couple of sets for 2
510s and possibly a set if the drums on the 2000 are too worn.
