I generally just lurk on the list but figured I'd take the opportunity to
grease the portal...umm, yeah, to umm...contribute
Here is a funky story about NYS DMV
I live in NY and my girlfriend bought a new 07 Camry (what do woman know
about cars ;-)). Well when she did that she stopped her insurance and had it
lapse for 3 days. Then she got a new insurance company and put the new car
on the road. This was about a year ago.
About 2 weeks ago a cop stops her because he says she has no insurance (he
ran her plates because he saw her in the coffee shop and must have liked
what he saw...that's another story for another day). Although she had
insurance, she never told the DMV. He let her go, (what a nice guy eh?) but
she went to the DMV to try and straighten it out. They took her plates for
17 days...because their records show she cancelled and never renewed.
Big Brother is really getting out of control!
So now, she drives my everyday car - a 02 supercharged Buick Regal - and I
drive one of my Datsuns. The roadster gets to go out on the sunny days but
primarily I drive my Z because the weather around here changes pretty
quickly. I have never driven the roadster with the top up - even though I
have a pretty decent top. Bottom line - I love it!
I am also getting ready to repaint a 71 510 that I acquired through the
list. I spent the winter rebuilding the mechanicals (suspension, tranny,
brakes, clutch, top end, etc). I was just going to do spot repair on the
lower valance - but, I got some really nice rechromed bumpers from Jorge in
Cali and well, you know how it goes... I should be ready for primer on
Sunday...but that's father's day - so I won't get to actually paint until
later in the week.
...don't know if this passes the "greased" test...
