Fred's got a good strategy.

I have used a hard rubber mallet on the backside of a drum jammed tight by a 
shoe that had "swole-up" from a leaking cylinder.

Ease it off by tapping against a wood block behind the fins around the drum.
By repeatedly tapping and relocating the wood block, you will eventually free
the drum. See the pictures I posted for reference.
