Rims, rims, rims,......Eagle, Enke and Empi all made repro 8 spokers for VW's
but are almost exclusively 5 " widths. In the late 60's early 70's there were
also repro's/knockoffs made by Ansen (who also did the repro torque thrust 5
spokers for mustangs et al).

3 years ago American Racing's Western Rep at the LA trade show told me that if
we had a pristine original rim they could use it to laser scan and make a new
die...cost around $10K and a committment of 500 sets. I asked Roadster and
Moss but no dice. It is a big investment.Have since found companies that would
scan the wheel for a solid 3-D CAD tape to make the die for less than
$5000...but they won't or can't make the wheel. Possible patent/design
infringement problems.

Oh yeah...they (AME - American Racing Equipment) would only sign up to do the
aluminum ones...not the magnesium. FYI.

It would be interesting to see how many sets of 4 and 8 spokers in Al and Mg
there are just amongst the FOT list. Bet we have a pretty good supply.

Personally I am looking for a Spitfire aluminum silverstone 8 spoker...AME.
Just need ONE. Anybody have one for sale? Also need ONE 15 inch, 5 1/2 inch
wide magnesium for the TR4 race car car. And yes we have raced on them for
almost 6 years. Magna fluxed and doing fine. But loaned one out to a fellow
racer and broke it. Please let me know if you have a spare of either for sale.
Thanks in advance.
