Fitting myself to the car is a good way to describe it. I tried to convince
myself that it was okay as-is to drive at the Portland Historics last year,
and almost stuffed it into the blackberry bushes testing it on my driveway.
My foot got stuck under the brake pedal, pressing the throttle about
halfway. After an aborted attempt at building some extremely curved pedals
to give myself room, I made a slightly offset pair and took the seat back
padding off. Sometime simple approaches are the best.

I do love the car--it's such a great little junkyard dog. Just looking at it
in my garage gives me a lot of pleasure.

I've also got a copy of the tape--I watch it about once every couple of
months. I had a friend here a few months ago who watched it with me, and
when Peyote and Baxter passed that last Porsche in the last turn, last lap
and held him off to take second my friend cheered and threw up his arms a
legs so hard that he knocked the chair over backwards.

It's too bad that the Steamboat Springs vintage race is no more. I'd love to
take Peyote there--it looked like everybody had a great time.
