Specialty Events seem to pretty attractive everywhere as it allow additional
track time, but moreover, puts folks together that dont ordinarily run
together. VSCDA has been very successful with this concept at Blackhawk and
IRP. "All British" might work best for CVAR unless you know you can get a
pretty full field with just MG and TR.

On a personal note, after some vacillating, I hope to bring the TR4 back down
again in March. I will need someplace to park the trailer and car, near
College Station, as Linda and I plan to come early and travel down to
Harlingen and the Padre Islands first. Ideas?

<< FOT,

Due to the efforts of Cary to get some FOT events started, and the general
increasing interest here in Texas in vintage racing Triumphs, we have a good
start on an FOT focus event each March. I have agreed to be the contact
person/organizer/whatever for this event. For this year, that meant talking
CVAR into adding a Friday Test and Tune Day, which wasn't hard at all. I
just told them that we could get the Kent TR3, and the TR4's of Alexander
and the Drews and maybe some other TR's if we added the track time. I have
asked CVAR if we could schedule an MG/Triumph Challenge race or even an All
British race in future years, and they are very receptive. Again not hard,
because we already have something like 9 MGB's, 2 MGA's and a TD regularly
attending. Our CVAR FOT regulars should be up to 3 TR3's, 4 TR4's, a Devin
TR3 and a Spitfire by 2002. All that is left on the racing side is making it
official. Soooooo, how many FOTer's out there would come to TWS in College
Station for such a preseason event? Should I push for the challenge, or All
Brit event? (we do have 3 or 4 big Healeys, lot's of Spec Sprites, and a few
 Jags, Loti and others)?

I have petitioned the "originality guru" at CVAR to allow some variances on
flares and other minor rules fopahs, but I haven't rec'd an answer yet. I
would expect no problem as long as the drivers maintain the vintage spirit.

Lastly, to encourage attendance by non racers, we could set up a car show in
conjunction with the local British car club, I think we could set up a high
speed slalom with an out and back course on the central drag strip at TWS
for the A/X crowd and possibly could set up lapping with a pace car if we
provide the insurance (through VTR club coverage). How many more would come
 for this?
