Irv and others interested,

I just got off the phone with my machine shop. The consensus of the
conversation:

Magnifluzing consists of introducing a magnetic field to the part. The part
is then coated with some sort of Iron Oxide. If a crack exists there is a
disruption in the magnetic field, and the iron oxide will form a line on
the part that is visible under a black light. The disruption of the
magnetic field under the surface of the part will still attract the iron
oxide. Obviously, the deeper the crack, the less likely the attraction. The
guy at the machine shop feels pretty strongly sandblasting is not capable
of changing the surface of a steel suspension part enough to mask a crack.

He agrees glass beading the part would clean it up just fine and cause less
surface distortion, but it shouldn't make any difference here.
