<<< What is the "proper" driving technique when the race car you are
driving goes
into a spin? Clutch in or out? Brakes locked or modulated? What else? If
it depends, what does it depend on? I thought I had a clue, but............>>

I usually just 'hang on and pray'.

I know that they say you should keep you thumbs out side the steering wheel,
in case the car's wheels hit something and causes the steeing wheel to snap
back. I guess some guy broke his thumbs one time, and that has been a rule
since.

I never thought about it, but I guess I have always kept the clutch in, to
try to keep the engine running. I am not sure what impact that action has on
the spin.

As I am growing older, I have decided it is best to just avoid spins.

Cheers.
