In the late 70's, I made my own fiberglass spoiler that presented a very
verticle wall from the bumper attachment point down...  I can't remember what
clearance I gave myself, but I would guess it was as low at the frame.

I wasn't racing, but I was still a teenager, and there were regular runs over
100mph weekly.

 I really didn't think I had a problem to start with and I only put the dam on
for a cosmetic change.  However, when it was all over, I noticed what felt like
a BIG improvement with that thing installed.   It did seem much smoother at high
speed with much better steering control.

Now that my current 4A has a new overdrive and 4.1:1....  I've been thinking
about a spoiler...
