JOe,
Are the Mallory Dual Point Distributors that inexpensive?  Last I looked
the Spitfire one was going for over $400.  The MSD  6AL That I was using
is selling for under $200 and is equipped with a built-in rev limiter.

If these prices are actual and as you say the results are about the
same, I'd opt for the MSD any day.  The electronics are going to be much
more reliable over the long haul than the mechanical.  But that's just
my opinion.
