Cary-

It all depends on which type auto choke you have. The later "black
elbow" type chokes were real good at causing problems. Naturally there were
no service parts & replacement units cost about the same as the war against
Iraq! Excellent candidates for NBM manual choke kits.

We are aware of three cars that have very similar problems with their
Stromberg street setup - suugesting this is a fairly common problem.

The engine will not hold an idle except at higher rpms. (Rebuilding
the set of carbs on one car did not solve the problem.) Is this a problem
with the automatic choke or is it something else.

Cary

There is no reason to believe that any of these cars have a major
engine problem. In fact, they seem to be in very good shape.
