FOTers,

The best gasket cement for gearboxes & ODs is Marston Hylomar (the thin blue
stuff)
available from Jaguar, etc.

The second best is Permatex Hi Tack (the paint on thin red stuff)

Check that the surfaces are flat and very clean & do not use very old
sealer.
Follow the instructions about using a Thin application & allowing to dry.
Too much is not a good thing. Just nip the joint and allow to dry before
applying final torque.

The BL red gaskets were much better than the new ones, but I guess that they
had "bestos" in them.

For those of you with 4 cyl motor failures in one hole, have you checked
the high RPM
ignition timing on each, yes each, cylinder?

I also run a line with restrictor from the heater valve head port to the back
of the H2O
pump to help remove air from that area of the head.

Reading the new Kas book is a grand idea too, IMHO :-)

  Hardy
