I had an electric water pump on my autocross TR-4 and it worked really
well.  There was one more advantage (for an autocross car) that you didn't
mention.  It can circulate water while the motor cools between sessions,
avoiding most of the heat soak problems.  This is a big issue for auto-X
cars which tend to see high rpms, but low air speed and often have
cooling problems.  I used a kit designed for V-8 drag race cars from either
Summit or Jeg's, which was just a small electric motor with a Gilmer drive
for the water pump.  I mounted it where the generator would have been,
since that was a convenient spot.
