Thanks to the sharp, beady eyes of Bill Dentinger, I got in touch with Art
Summerville from CVAR. It seems that Art received my emails and responded to
them but I never got the responses back. Bill forwarded me an email that Art
had sent out including me on the distribution list asking if I'd seen it. I
hadn't. Roadrunner must be blocking stuff from white haired gentlemen.

The news is that the CVAR Board has discussed our proposal for having an FOT
get together at the Spring Hallet event, the weekend of April 1-2, 2006, and
agreed whole-heartedly to our plans. They want to get the definite thumbs up
from us before October so they can advertise over the winter. We'll need a
name for our she-bang, "FOT April Fools" may be too easy. This is the same
request we received from our "fine print guy" Tim so that he can get things
lined out for those 2 wonderful magazines of his (fact, not opinion).

The basic plan is for us to have our own group. This would allow us our own
practice sessions on Friday and at least one special race or practice on both
weekend days. In addition, we could try and coordinate with Pinnicle
Motorsports and rent the facility for Thursday. The cars would otherwise be
grouped in Group 2 small bore or Group 7for liter and up. CVAR also has a
pre-1961 rules group (full interior) in Group 4 that would accommodate Triumph
based Specials very nicely. Maybe we can coax the Arnold TR3 out of Kansas.

With the extra numbers pretty much guaranteed, the track owners, the Stephans
Bros. would most likely be willing to put on a Saturday night extravaganza for
us. We could coordinate the rest of the stuff as needed. Tell me it's a go and
we'll go!

Actually, it wouldn't take much to get me excited. Another TR3 in Group 4
or a Spitfire giving the Spridgets a hard time, either would get me going.

I would propose a four day event. Pinnacle Racing rents the track on
Thursday and in previous discussions they have been open to sharing it. On
Thursday, we could probably set up some Triumph practice sessions with some
help from the Stephens on how to drive the track. Friday is CVAR test and
tune day. Saturday and Sunday are racing days. Art Summerville may not be
responding because he has heard this all before and nothing has ever
materialized. He has always been very receptive to some special races. The
Spitfires will go into Group 2, which is currently 90% Spridgets. The TR4s
and 6s will go into Group 7, which typically has a large contingent of MGBs.
The TR3s will go into group 4. We just need to make a firm decision whether
we're going to do it, and then follow through.

I'm not involved in the VTR Regional. It just means there won't be much
involvement by the local club.

What is the number that get's you excited? 20-25?

It could be a Challenge Race of some kind.

To be MGs, it doesnt have to a MG "FOCUS" event.

I dont think the VTR regional has anything to do with this, unless it has
an impact on you. Or am I missing something?

We've put up the trial balloon several times, but it always seems to get
shot down. I'm ready and willing, but I've become skeptical that we can get a
significant number of Triumphs to come to Hallett. Keep in mind that the
spring CVAR race is usually the first weekend in April and the local Triumph
club is hosting the VTR Regionals two weeks later.
