Jack,
Thanks for the eye witness update. The RMVR event scheduled for July
21-23, 2006 has been postponed to August 18-20, 2006, which looks
optimistic as well.

The MPH website still has no photos of paving activities, just as you
confirm. All buildings at this time look to be trailer based. If they can
pull that together, I wont be able to attend as the August date now
conflicts with a test run weekend Lotus Colorado is conducting for a
National in 2007.

Having spent a weekend at Miller in Utah, there is no way Hastings can
approximate that facility. I don't think they ever intended to in the
first place. I'm hoping they are delayed long enough to keep cars off it
this year and the new asphalt has a winter to cure. As nice as Miller is,
they are having trouble with some of the asphalt seams, always weak links
that need a great deal of attention during installation. Modern tyres and
synthetic lubricants are almost too much for asphalt to take these days.

For as much effort as the Colorado Motorsports Council has expended on
getting us a replacement for Second Creek Raceway (God rest its soul),
there have been some interesting projects just popping up in the region
for permits and the like. They look ambitious and interesting.
Time will tell.
