Amen to that.  And when Peter Ustinov made his classic road racing parody The 
Grand Prix of Gibraltar...Phil Hill became Bill Dill, Stirling Moss became 
Girling Foss,  Raymond Baxter became Roland Thaxter, and so on.  In fact a sign 
of respect.
