I put a Mallory Distributor on my Vitesse a few years back, and at the same
time fitted the Pertronix Hall-effect unit.

Therefore I have never experienced a condensor, or points problem with the
Mallory.

The reason I fitted the Mallory was because of the wear on my Lucas unit,
after all of 12,000 miles from new, plus the horrible quality of the modern
reproduction caps and rotor arms, although better rotor arms are now beginning
to
'surface'.

I had already been using the Pertronix system on both my Vitesse, with Lucas
distributor, and previously on my Herald with Lucas distributor, with complete
satisfaction of those units.

I had previously used other electronic ignition systems, mostly Luminition
optical type systems which had proved very unreliable in practice, which is
why
I avoided Mallory's own optronic system, instead opting for the Pertronix.

So far, so good with the Mallory/Petrtronix combo!

Hope this helps some.

Best Regards

Lion
