Jim: Are we talking a TR2-4 motor, Spit motor, or TR6 motor?
Thanks - Ed

Chris

I'm not sureB what caused it. IB was on my secondB race on the engine. It only
affected # 3.

I can only surmise a contaminant lodged in an oil passage. The oil was changed
after an hour

of break in and again after 3 hours and again right after the first race. New
filters every time.

This isn't the first time Iv'e toasted a low end because of oiling problems.

Ran perfectly during and after the first race, through practice and quali. on
the second race.

Three laps into the second race it gave up.

I have a new oil pump and blew the crank out real good before assembly.

I took great care in keeping things clean.

Since using the Castrol my oil pressure starts out at 80 plus psi but by the
end of the race drops

below 50. Goes right back up after it cools. I also have an oil sump that
kicks in at 25 psi.

IBB welded in a windage tray after the last time.

These little tractor motors are a bit of a puzzle.

Jim,

What caused the bearing failure? Oil pressure drop? Misalignment?

Chris

Betreff: [Fot] Spun a d#@n bearing

Greetings FoT

I spun my # 3 rod bearing last weekend and my crank is already at .040
under.

It turned the rod blue so it's toast. I know it's been discussed before but
I think

it may be time to weld the crank and go to Chevy rods.

Any advice for the conversion ?

Again, thankfull for your advice,

Jim G.
