I use 7/16 u-bolts of Ford Escord.
They are much stronger and longer.

Betreff: [Fot] source for TR4 rear axle U bolts?
I'm looking for a source for 3/8" grade 8 U bolts (or bolt stock) for
the TR4 solid axle. I've checked the usual suspects locally but no one
carries bolt stock that small. Even utility trailer shops don't carry
stock smaller than 1/2". Sheesh!
