Irv, Aeroquip (probably other manufacturers, too) now offer high-helix 
spiral isolators that seem to be made of nylon and can be installed with 
the hose in place. Very clean and neat.  Only proviso is that one has to 
make sure the isolator is positioned properly so that the isolator 
actually meets the contact points.  Not preferable to proper padded 
clips, but, still, a pretty good alternative to tearing things down, and 
very useful where there's a tangle of hoses contacting each other.
