Now that is the best answer I have heard yet! Cannot check anything
out till Saturday.

There is one more confounding piece to all of this. I have an
Innovate LM1 O2 sensor system. Hooked to it is an LM3 "Auxbox". The
Auxbox captures RPM and MAP and the LM1 records it. The green wire
from the Crane that go to the Tach also go to the LM3, as does a wire
from where the Tach grounds. To allow the system to measure ambient
air pressure before starting the car, a twelve volt feed also goes to
the LM3. The wiring method is confusing [hot 12V, ground 12V are the
first two; next comes the tach feed and it is Ground [-] feed then [+]
Tach feed. I wired ththe tach feed backward [reversed the polarity].
I do not know if somehow this threw off a signal to the Crane that has
caused damage to it. The problem I have experienced persists even
though the LM 3 is now unconnected.
