 It's entirely possible that Triumphs were raced at private circuits like
Briarcliff Manor, etc., before WWII. I don't have any definite info on that. I
will also look in my TSOA newsletter archives.



I know for a fact that TR2s were being raced in 1954/55 in SCCA events at
places like Akron and Lockbourne AFB in Ohio because I was there. Jarrard
Distributors in Pensacola ran TRs at Sebring in 56, I believe and there were
official teams in '57 and later.



On the west coast, Cal Sales started sponsoring race entries very early in
their distributorship. I remember Alan Bethell (president of Triumph over here
in the late 50s and early 60s) telling me about running a couple of races out
west when he was still the regional sales rep which would have been 1954-55.
