I explain this in one of my early books.  How to use an SU needle in a
Stromberg carb: The difference in the shank of each needle is .013". The SU
being the smaller. So I made a little tube out of .006" shim stock cut in half
length wise which left me a half tube.  Fit the half tube around the needle
shank with the open side of the tube towards the grub screw which hold the
needle in position.  You will never notice the .0005" differnce in the
diameters. I did this first in 1968 and works just as well today.
