Scott, I'm not an expert, but I have worked with Halon in a computer
room environment before that was taboo. My understanding is that Halon
is a gas, there's nothing to solidify. As long as you have pressure in
the tank you're good.
The fact that there's no solids was why it was such a good material for
use in computer rooms. To test the installation we actually did a Halon
dump in the computer room (like a 20 by 50 foot room). It was pretty
impressive. Big wall of fog rolled across the room.
I'd like a second opinion, I could be wrong on the longevity for some
obscure reason.
