Hi Nick,
The way I see it there=E2=80=99s only a couple of variables left. =C2=A0Whi=
ch hole is your slave attached to on the clutch fork? =C2=A0Does it make a =
difference if you move it to the =E2=80=9Cfurthest out=E2=80=9D hole?=C2=A0
How is the surface of the flywheel? =C2=A0I=E2=80=99m sure you checked it o=
ut changing all those parts. =C2=A0Maybe it=E2=80=99s burred and causing th=
e clutch to grab? =C2=A0Did you scuff it down a bit? =C2=A0=C2=A0
Here=E2=80=99s the long shot. =C2=A0What about the crankshaft thrust washer=
s, is there all of a sudden too much play, like a thrust=C2=A0bearing fell =
out? Maybe it=E2=80=99s changing the way the clutch slave interacts with th=
e pressure plate.
That=E2=80=99s all I got!

Very weird that changing all those parts has no effect. You changed the clu=
tch hose : also the metal part of the line?It seems that the bearing doesn'=
t follow the clutch pedal over some distance and is catching up then at a s=
udden. How is the clutch pedal feel?=C2=A0Marcel

OK, so I've had a weird problem with the clutch on The Duke of Oil (TR4A). =
It suddenly started acting like an off/on switch with no chance of slippage=
to get goin. The engagement was so sudden that it broke a side gear in the=
locker. Upon review everything appeared well within spec. I changed the cl=
utch disc. transmission input shaft and changed the throwout bearing sleeve=
. No dice...same issue.Got it apart again and have changed everything...dis=
c, pressure plate, bearing, crankshaft bush, cross shaft bushings, clutch h=
ose, clutch slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder...pedal assembly seem=
s smooth without any binding. Have also double pinned the throwout fork to =
the cross shaft.
SO...any thoughts?
Also have pinned the throwout bearing flange so that it will not spin on th=
e sleeve. Anybody else pin the flange, or do you let it turn on the sleeve?=
 Why/why not?
Broken gears and tears in NorCalNick
