Greg etal,Remove the bolts holding the plate to the trans and deposit them =
in the nearest trashcan! The torque figure on those bolts is something like =
20 or 25 pounds and at 26 pounds they stretch. You will find the bolts neat=
ly wired and loose as the forces of the od engaging stretches them, and the=
n the leaking starts.I use internal socket head bolts (to get the small hea=
d) and drill them for safety wire. The bolts are much higher strength and d=
o not stretch...no more leaks.

The early one=E2=80=99s always had the bolts for the adapter plate safety w=
ired. I always safety wired all the bolts on transmissions I rebuilt.

Make sure they are wired in the correct direction. There is a right and wro=
ng way to run them.

I removed my TR6 type A OD box out of the TR3 race car today. It was remove=
d because the last time on track, it was leaking badly.=20

=C2=A0

To my surprise, I found that the OD adapter plate was very loosely attached=
to the rear of the transmission, in fact two bolts had completed backed ou=
t and I found them when I removed the accumulator piston cover. Upon furthe=
r disassembly I found that all of the adapter bolts were loose.=20

=C2=A0

When I built this transmission 2 years ago, I used red locktite on all of t=
hese bolts. I also had use the thin gasket with hylomar. Has anyone every s=
een these bolts back out like this before?=C2=A0 Any suggestions on repair =
work to make sure this doesn=E2=80=99t happen again?

=C2=A0

I=E2=80=99m thinking of drilling all bolt heads and safety wiring all of th=
e.=C2=A0 Have also thought of using helicoil on all of these since they are=
 threaded into aluminum.=20

=C2=A0

Appreciate all thoughts on the mater.=20
