I've always mounted wing mirrors out on the front fenders centred over the
front wheels. I install a flat one on the driver's side and a convex one on
the passenger's side. The two work well as a team. Once you catch sight of
something in either mirror, you should turn your head to determine distance,
etc. anyway.
