Bob. I just finished mine and I chose not to put insulation on the inside of
the tunnel. Instead I put a double layer on the outside. One layer is not
enough. It seems to work fine. The tunnel carpet fits better than before and I
don't have to worry about trans cooling. I also put a 10" X 30" piece of
quarter inch aluminum plate between the stainless muffler and the heat stock
heat shield. It just sets on the top of the bolts the hold the stock shield on
which gives about 1/2" air space between the two. It has made quite a
difference in the floor pan temp under the seat and the muffler is no lower
that it was before. Cheers, JL
