Suddenly I have a need for a tire. My local tire guy says that he can only
find three or four "off brands" in my size. Had a flat and ruined one of my
Michelin XZX's yesterday, so I just need one. He had gotten me one of these
off brand tires to use as a spare and since it would probably (so I thought at
the time) never really be on the ground, it didn't really matter all that
much. Now, however since somethng will have to be on the ground, I've got to
look at options more seriously. This is for a BJ8, Michelin size is 165 SR15.
This spare, a brand(?) called Ultra Metric is 165 R15 and appears to be ever
so slightly wider, but seems to be working OK. Does anyone have any
suggestions? At this point, the car is a passable daily driver and no plans to
really get much better right now. Cars still will probably not be driven more
than 3,000 mile/year.
