One of the great things about owning and driving a "ham-fisted"
"hairy-chested" Austin Healey roadster is that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
can't call us "Girly-Men"!
Cars, like people, often exhibit characteristics or acquire reputations that
tend to identify them as either masculine cars or feminine/"chick" cars.
Limiting the discussion to roadster/convertible cars, either classic or
contemporary, here are a few masculine and "chick" convertibles that
immediately come to mind:
Masculine Convertibles

"Chick" Convertibles
a.. Miata
b.. MB SL
c.. Chrysler Sebring
d.. VW Beetle & Rabbit Cabriolet

f.. Audi TT
What are the characteristics that might tend to place a car on one list or the
other? For example, it seems that models that were successful as race cars or
rally cars would most likely be thought of as masculine. One Healey owner I
know would go so far as to place all convertibles with roll-up windows on the
"Chick" list.
Anyone care to add or subtract classic or contemporary convertibles to/from
either List? Where might various MG, Triumph and Jaquar "open tops" fit?
