I turn to the all knowing wisdom of the list to straighten me out on this
question.

I had a local Midas shop flush and fill the antifreeze in my weekly worker
car today and I questioned him why they didn't bother to drain or at least
siphon out the old fluid in the plastic fluid reservoir. I of course
thought that eventually this rotten smelling juice would work its way in
with the rest of the new antifreeze and contaminate it to a certain degree.
Siphoning seemed like a pretty easy thing to do to me and it completes the
job.

His reply was that they don't like to remove the bottle because they
sometimes break ( I guess I can buy that) and the fluid will not mix in
with the rest, that fluid is just incase there is a leak in the main system
then it will have this fluid to use so it doesn't run dry. I'm having a
hard time accepting that one.

I quasi I always thought that the fluid in the bottle is siphoned back and
forth through the system and the bottle, depending on whether or not the
thermostat is open or closed. Aren't these bottles part of the closed loop
system?

They ended up doing the whole job over again anyway, cause the worker bee
didn't back flush it through the heater core like the king bee told me they
did. It appeared that they just drained the radiator and that was it. For
$101. I guess I expected a little more. Man that tex cool is expensive.

Should I be looking for a new maintenance shop?
