I would get any one of the hot rod units that combine the AC with the
heater. With the stock heater out of the way, there is plenty of room for
the evaporator/fan. I like the electronic controls version that Vintage Air
has, then you don't have to try to hookup vacumn lines or mechanical cables.
With a small enough control panel, you might also be able to integrate it
into the existing  heater control quadrant opening. Or you can have a
handheld remote!! and leave the existing panel alone.
Yes, an alternator or generator that can do double the existing output is
probably necessary as is an electric fan tied into the compressor electric
circuit.
