I'm in the EXACT situation!  I'm hoping when I inject
the grease the free play will go away.  Have you
greased yours yet?

Subject: Kingpin play

I have a rebuilt kingpin assembly that has play in it.
Methinks you 
only can really check this when the suspension is
assembled. So the 
left side has no play and the right side has play when
both are 
mounted on the frame. Since the rebushing job was done
by a Healey 
shop, I assume the correct number of thrust washers
were used; so 
maybe I can eliminate the play by tightening the
swivel pin nut more? 
Any advice?
