Just to clarify my previous statement.  The Mallory dual point has a
mechanical advance (no vacuum advance) so the hose that would normally
go to the vacuum advance on the distributor can be removed and plugged.
The Mallory dual point distributor is completely adjustable for race as
well as non-racing cars.

Mechanical and vacuum advance serve two different functions.  If you
purchase a distributor with vacuum advance, make use of it.  The vacuum
advance adjusts ignition timing for partial throttle situations such as
cruise.  It is useful for non-racing cars.
