Hi Charley -
Make sure that your gearbox man has not mixed gears from two
dissimilar three speed boxes. There were a total of three different
types of gearsets issued for the BN1 gearbox, and unfortunately all of
them will fit together interchangeably when assembling a box. That
means as soon as you run it, if the gears are mixed up... it will
shred the gearbox. To complicate matters further a handful of boxes
floating around will have gears from an A90 Atlantic in them.
The only way to tell if the gears are the same is to match the part
numbers which are stamped on the gears. If the part numbers match
between the two boxes everything should be hunky dory.
