Here's some details on at least one of the 100-Six cars used at Sebring:

"One of the long-nosed 100 Six competition cars that had been used at
Sebring was cut about, and the Ferrrari de Dion rear axle cum gearbox
fitted. The mounting points for radius arms were copied from the
Ferrari and welded to the chassis. 100 S brakes and hubs were fitted to
the ends of the axle. 100 S suspension was used at the front, with MGA
rack and pinion steering. The engine was installed with forward mounted
oil tanks. It had no provision for a dynam, and in order to comply with
regulations, a Lucas 22290 dynamo was fitted in the air intake with a
four blade propeller. This was supposed to generate at high speed. The
battery had to cope with starting only, a magneto providing the
ignition. We tried the car late one autumn afternoon on the SIlverstone
Grand Prix circuit. the road holding and braking were excellent but
although very good times were obtained the engine was short of power."

From Geoffrey Healey's "Story of the Big Healeys"

Other speculation about the cars based on displacement can be
misleading as the displacement figures for the four-cylider cars is
roughly the same as the early six-cylinder cars.

On the record breaking cars, the same car used in '54 was used again in
1956 with a six-cylinder engine and the body was restyled.
