It's a curious world we live in. 

As Malaysian manufacturer Proton bought over 80% of Lotus in 1996 why
wouldn't a Chinese automotive manufacturer be eyeing off MG Rover?

It certainly would give them a most respectable foot hold in the British
and worldwide car arena.

I recall attending the launch of the MGZT sedan a few years back and
then MG Rover executives were singing the praises of the deal they were
about to enter into with a Chinese automotive manufacturer.
