I even still remember our party line no: 477-W. When we picked up the phone 
the operator said "number please" and we gave here the number of the phone 
we were calling. City, so no "Sadie, let me talk to Edith." BTW, the other 
party on the line was 477-J. Belonged to the people down the street and they 
were on the phone ALL the time (so it seemed.)
