The wire harness that goes to the rear of the car is held in place by
metal clips , over time these clips get pushed out of alignment maybe by rocks
,
then they start to wear through the harness ... Inside this harness is a white
wire to the fuel pump ( not fused ) , there is a white/black if it goes to
ground your engine will stop , there is a green/black wire for the fuel gauge
(fused) , there is a red wire to the tail lights (not fused) and the brake/
tail
light wires ( fused ) ... if any one of these wires go to ground YOU HAVE A
PROBLEM ...the smoke comes out from some of the wires ... my cars the wires run
inside the car and are fused ... if you have my Tech Talk book read pages 9 &
