Pete,

I don't have personal experience with any rebuilders, but my father has
had (at best)
mixed results sending several units to rebuilders. I think it's a crap
shoot ... just
Google "power brake rebuilder" or "power brake exchange," etc. and roll
the dice.
Apple Hydraulics will do it for $375 or so, they're probably as good as
anybody (at
least they should have experience with these Girling units).

This isn't a tough job to do yourself. A rebuild kit from Moss is about
$80-90, if
your cylinders are in good shape that should do it. To do a thorough
job, you'll want
to get the cylinders re-sleeved. Even if they look good, there is only
a thin, hardened
surface that can go at any time. The vacuum chamber has a special
dry-lubricating
coating. If your servo doesn' have a whole lot of miles (say, less than
100K), this
should be OK. If not, there is a special spray moly/epoxy coating that
can be applied
to repair it. If I recall, it costs about $25/can.

The shop/Bentley manual explains the operation of these quite well, and
I found it
interesting. The rebuild kit has decent instructions as well. One
thing that is hard
(impossible) to find is the inline check valve. Mine was shot, but Mike
at British
Car Specialists found me a good used one. If need be, you can use any
check
valve that will fit in the vacuum hose from the manifold.

Cheers,
bs
