Helicoil would be my first shoice as well except that I forgot to mention 
that the outside shoulder of the exhaust manifold surrounding the bolt hole 
is chipped out by about 3/8 inch (looks as though someone had problems here 
before) and must be filled and shaped prior to tapping.
