Also, on certain color cars / interiors, the chassis / door side of the gaps
between the door panels and chassis were painted the color of the interior
panels so the body color wouldn't show between upolstered / paneled areas.
Its the same principle as touching up nicks and dings in woodwork or plastic
laminate to fool the eye into thinking that all is perfect - sort of like
