I know that the Brazilian produced Beetles were fitted with 15 inch
wheels but I just don't know about the cars built in Mexico.
As far as Michelin and Pirelli goes I would love a set of XAS tyres but
they are bloody expensive and you have to wait a long time to get them.

Thank you for sharing your detailed knowledge. I happily stand
corrected. I had not considered the Volkswagen Beetle sizing. I
understand the Beetle was produced in Mexico until 2004 or so. Didn't
Brazil produce the Beetle and the "Thing" until a couple of years ago as
well? Perhaps Healey listers and other British marque folks should
express their continuing interest in historic tires to the Michelin and
Pirelli companies. Sounds like a good project for one the British car
clubs.
