Hello Listers:

I'm in the process of reassembling my HBT7/5966 roadster, and I'm focused on
my rear springs at the moment. The springs that came with the car differ
somewhat from the AH Service Parts List, Anderson/Moment Guide, Moss, etc.
in that they do not use the separate spring eye reinforcement pieces (that
curve around the main leaf spring eyes) and they do not have the U-shaped
clips with screws that hold the leaves together. Instead, the second leaf's
ends curve around the main leaf spring eyes, and the leaves are held
together by four rubber strips and metal banding. The banding is very
similar to the metal banding one would find around a wooden shipping crate.
The springs do have seven leaves with the toe bolt in the center.

Is it possible that these springs came on the car originally? Or are they
aftermarket replacements? Could they be late model BJ8 springs?

Should I rebuild the springs with Teflon/zinc interleaves and use the
correct U-shaped clips instead?

What say the list?
