Steering Column Brace

Hello all,
Can anyone tell me where the sideways steering column brace attaches.  
Moss # 200( P.128). It's shown as a straight piece which runs into  
everything- wiper motor, oil and temp. lines. I have a part which  
appears to be the brace. however it's bent into a wide "U" with the  
ends parallel But not at 90 degrees. the only place it seems to fit  
is from the steering column clamp bolt to the second windshield post  
bolt. Any ideas?
