Good idea but I aligned the splines properly 15 years ago when I
replaced the U-joints then.  No problems until a week ago.

This type of U-joint misalignment would not result in the shimmy I
feel when coasting out of gear.  Perhaps if the splines themselves
were frozen together maybe.....
