I also learned the hard way that there are not short-cuts to quality 
restoration.  I bought 1/2 the chrome pieces on my car from aftermarket 
suppliers because it was half the cost of replating originals.  I changed my 
tune when it came time to install them and they didn't fit - not even close. 
I sent them back and paid the price for the best quality plating I could 
find.  There were many other examples of parts which I sent back for 
originality and quality reasons.  Lately, I have relied on British Car 
Specialists to supply the "correct" parts.  They know these cars 
"intimately" being club members and enthusiasts.
