I have often been frustrated trying to get a good seal around the exhaust
pipe joints. There is almost always some small leakage. I read on this
list many yeas ago a suggestion that has solved that problem. I use the
high temp. copper based silicon sealant which I put on the interior mating
surfaces of the pipe before joining them with clamps. I then let it set up
overnight and I have never had any leaks. It always works for me.
